The Aeron Chair: One of history’s most successful pieces of office furniture as a comfortable, airy Side Chair.
The designers Don Chadwick and Bill Stumpf created an office chair that is of high quality both in its ergonomics and its artistic realisation. The idea behind the design: The activities of office workers that spend most of their time sitting shall be eased. In order to do so, the implemented a Pellicle membrane in the seat and the back and created the innovative kinemat technology as a tilt mechanism. Concludingly, when launched the Aeron Chair was the first office chair that managed without any padding.
The Aeron Chair was selected the “Design of the Decade” by the Industrial Designers Society as well as the best work tool at the National Ergonomic Conference and Exhibition. The Aeron is one of the permanent exhibition pieces in New York’s Museum of Modern Art.
Breathable Pellicle® membrane prevents sweating
Inspired by processes of the nature, the patent Pellicle Membrane is the Aeron Chair’s core element. Literally like a membrane, the technology mimics the diffusional processes of the human skin.
The goal was to create ideal seat ergonomics under conditions of a transparent design, because unlike upholstered seats, the Pellicle membrane lets you breathe while sitting. For you, this means no sweating on your buttocks and your back and no sliding around on the seat, because you are always sitting in an optimal position.
