The Herman Miller Story at a Glance
In 1923, D.J. De Pree took over the Star Furniture Company, founded in 1905, which had previously focused on manufacturing bedroom furniture. With the support of his father-in-law, West Michigan businessman Herman Miller, he founded the company. The Executive Office Group designed by Gilbert Rohde marked the beginning of the company's success in 1941. Since then, Herman Miller has stood for modern design classics, ergonomic office furniture and sustainable production methods.
Four years later, architect and designer George Nelson became the company's first Design Director. He was followed by Charles and Ray Eames, who designed a wide range of office and home furniture for Herman Miller that went on to become classics in the history of design. Designs such as the Noguchi Table, Nelson Bubble Lamp and Aeron Chair laid the foundation for a company that continues to develop problem-solving designs that are as beautiful as they are useful.

Aeron Chair – Modern Design Classic and Herman Miller Flagship
When the Aeron Chair was designed by Don Chadwick and Bill Stumpf in 1994, it was ahead of its time: the Aeron Chair was the first office chair to combine comfort and aesthetics with ergonomics and quality. This is due to the Aeron Chair's key features: the Kinematic Tilt, which allows the chair to adapt to the body's natural movements; the 2D armrests, which can swivel 17° inward and outward for ideal working comfort; and the patented Pellicle membrane used for the seat and backrest. Thanks to this feature, the chair became the first office chair in history to eliminate the need for heat-retaining upholstery entirely.
Since the 1990s, the Aeron Chair has been a modern office classic, a collector's item for design enthusiasts and one of Herman Miller's flagship products. Available in three sizes, it embodies the Herman Miller philosophy and can be configured as an everyday chair for people of all body types. Twenty-three years after its market launch, the office icon received a remake: the Aeron Remastered is even more ergonomic and easier to configure thanks to the innovative PostureFit SL and the advanced 8Z Pellicle membrane.

Herman Miller Offers a 12-Year Warranty
Herman Miller provides a 12-year warranty on new models. You will also receive a certificate of authenticity containing all relevant warranty details. For models that have been professionally refurbished by us, we provide a 3-year warranty.
In the event of a product defect, we will arrange a prompt replacement if a repair is no longer considered practical. We call our exchange programme "old chair for new chair" SeatSwap.
